You exist infinitely in relationship with the Lord that created you. Let that sink in for a moment.

That means that what you do now in the spiritual realm determines your infinite capacity and relationship with Allah. This is the time of testing – during which you can worship and choose over and over again Allah over all the other temptations.

It’s so easy to think about life as finite.

In many ways, it IS finite. In the many ways that we construct meaning, it is finite. Through the many ways that society measures whether you matter, it is finite. You have a finite amount of time to accumulate money and then enjoy that money. You have a finite amount of time to enjoy your youth and all of its pleasures. You have a finite amount of time to gain status and compete and win. You have a finite amount of time in this certain arrangement with the souls you love around you. You have a finite amount of time with your mom. You have a finite amount of time to launch that company and hear your name ring in celebration across the stratosphere.

But your existence – as a human soul – created for the reason of worshiping Allah – that existence is INFINITE.

And there is something so profoundly reassuring about this fact. That no matter what happens in this life – you are an infinite being in relationship with an infinitely merciful God.

This realization helps us center our relationship with Allah in our lives. It is the only relationship that lasts forever, that affects all other outcomes.
